In Eckhart Tolle’s philosophy I find great wisdom and considerable comfort: I came across his writings at a time of significant changes in my life (the creative demon did not let me: I had to create something using my imagination and my hands).
One of the most imaginative motifs in Tolle’s philosophy that captured my heart is his emphasis on the immediate, unmediated, momentary connection, with the understanding that life is a sequence of present moments, and that our constant refusal to experience them as such imposes on us a constant consciousness of phantom longing and anguish.
My connection to the present, my devotion to the sweetness of the moment and the sense of the natural emanation of time around my practical and being, unleash my creativity to act with all its spontaneous power, utilizing all my talents and life experience.
To sit quietly, without trying to fix anything, without trying to “understand” anything in a forced way, and looking forward comfortably, simply, is the gift of this bench. The iron and wood from which it is made, the stability and sense of life and work that these materials and their treatment inspire, these present the encounter between spontaneity and creation and the concreteness of life and the magic of the moment quietly, patiently, lovingly. These are the materials of my life.
